The side mounted switch with variable brightness dial, and generous vertical angle adjustment, make it exceptional for up close work. I have several other portable LED lights, but this one is unique with its 4000K color temperature output, making everything look natural - another feature making it friendly for detail work. Each light I have gotten from LEDLENSER has proven to be excellent! Great headlamp. Just as good as the H14r for light output and comfort, but the operation button / control knob is tapered in the wrong direction to be easy to use with gloves on. Still can be used, but the control knob needs more texture for a warm glove to get an easy grip. Everything else is perfect.
